The pool work is moving on schedule and we will have completed installation of the base layer above the liner by tomorrow. Following that will be the rough sloping for drainage and pavers with 75 tons of sand.
Next week our new pool heaters will be installed and the system put to a full test. Installation of French drains where required in our landscape areas will be dug and connected to the new drain system.
April 5th the pavers are scheduled for delivery onsite and a crew of 12 pavers and 6 laborers will be onsite for installation. It is anticipated it will take 15 working days or 3 weeks to complete installation.
Re-installation of the surrounding landscape will then begin as well as installation of a new drip system for water conservation.
The open issue remaining is the waterline pool tiles and the plaster in the large pool and spa.
The soil engineer has told us that he does not want the large pool drained for at least two years for stabilization of the soil directly under the pool which we couldn't access. We can drain the spa at this time, but we are seeking some additional opinions to determine if the spa can wait two years for new plaster and tile. If it is capable, the we will hold off replacing the tile in the pools right now and replace them when we re-plaster the two pools in two years.
The advantage of doing that is we won't have seam between the new tiles and old plaster which greatly increases the risk of further leaks. The re-plaster and tile work will take approximately 3 weeks and the pool then has to undergo a special chemical start up procedure that takes two weeks. These projects will be started after the swim season in two years or very early in the New Year ( weather permitting ) with the goal of the pools
re-opening for spring break.
Weather and updates still pending does not permit me to give you an estimated opening date however, I hope to be able to announce a date toward the end of April. The board and Avalon Management thank everyone for their continued understanding while we complete the repairs required to provide a safe pool experience.
