Pool Project Update - Message From Board President

4/28/2016

Hi everyone, we have completed restoration of the pool tiles and the low force bead application has cleaned the calcium out of our coping so it once again is the custom tan we chose.

In addition, all pavers were re-inspected and any chipped or scratched pavers were pulled and replaced.

Today (Thursday) we will focus on prepping the deck and coping for sealing. Most of today will be power washing the pavers to get all dust and dirt particles out of the nooks in the pavers. Weather permitting, we hope to seal the entire area on Saturday (Please note the weather station is predicting 5% chance of rain and if that remains the prediction, we will have to delay). The sealant requires 7 days to cure. We also hope to have our gates and fence repaired today and tomorrow.

Once the deck sealant is cured, we can focus on the spa to determine if the plaster will survive two years vs require total demolition and re-build. Once that is determined I can provide an estimated opening date.

Concurrently with the spa will be installation of new landscape irrigation and re-landscaping the pool area.

When that is complete, we will have a service come out and pressure wash all of our pool furniture and treat the vinyl straps so they don't soak up oils as well as protects them from the sun. A complete scrub down of the entire pool area will occur to remove any remnants of construction dust or dirt.

Final step is painting of the community center and fence.

Lots of steps remaining but we are moving full steam ahead and continue to get closer and closer to announcing our opening date.

Wolf Creek Safety Fair

The Wolf Creek Lifestyle Board hosted a very successful event this past Saturday that saw over 200 residents come through and visit with Temecula Police, Cal Fire, Junior Explorers and many other civil servants.  A big thank you to our Mayor, Mike Naggar for attending the fair as well!

The Association would like to send a special thank you to Leslie Lawson (Wolf Creek Lifestyle Board Member) for taking the lead in organizing the day!

Pool Project Update - Message from Board President

4/22/2016

Our landscaper has recommended they re-install the landscape and irrigation around the pool after the pavers are sealed.

As such, we have moved the sealing process to this coming Wednesday.  The sealant itself requires 7 days to fully cure. So during the time frame of April 27th through May 5th; you won't see any activity in the pool area.

While the pool area remains off limits, work will continue in the front of the Community Center to prep the parking lot for asphalt spot patching, a re-slurry, striping etc.

On May 5th the landscape project will begin and the inspection and diamond pad sanding of the spa will take place. As I have shared repeatedly, the spa will either add 3+ weeks or permit us to stay on schedule based on what is found. The spa cannot be worked on until the pavers are fully sealed so the plaster dust does not discolor the pavers.

I hope to provide a anticipated completion time frame once we know how the spa is doing.

Everyone buy your new swimsuits and sunscreen, the pool opening is getting closer!

Pool Repair Project - Update from Board President

4/20/2016

Hi everyone. Here's the latest update on the pool repairs. Today the masons are on site to cut and install the mandated no diving and foot markers into the pavers. The polymeric sand is being installed in the final portion of the pavers and a second tamping down will take place.
Monday, Adams Landscaping will be in to replace the irrigation supply for the entire plant area in the pool and to perform landscaping including new plants. That is going to be a several day task.
The pool tiles are responding well to the chemical treatment to clean and seal so we are moving in a positive direction there.
During the first week of May, the new pool deck will be sealed with a product that requires 7 days to cure. During that time, no work can be done in the pool area. Instead, focus will be changed to deal with damage to our parking lot and drains from the heavy equipment as well as the hydrant line break that undermined the north end of the building.
When we can get back into the pool area, an attempt to diamond pad the spa will be made. A one day job if all goes well. If the plaster is beyond repair, the spa will need to be demo'd and rebuilt. That is a 1 week job and a two week cure process.
At the same time the spa is being tended to, all of the patio furniture requires steam cleaning to remove all of the dirt, dust and many spiders that have made it home as well as being treated to avoid sun damage. In addition, the entire grass area will require servicing of all three BBQ's and cement work, showers, bathrooms and fixtures. We also hope that the new north side exit gate will be ready for installation.
We are definitely heading toward the finish line. Still a lot of unknowns. As I have repeatedly mentioned, I can't give a reasonable timeline until we start servicing the plaster in the spa as that has the potential to delay opening for an additional three weeks.
All pool plumbing has been operating under full pressure for over a month with no leaks or issues.
Everyone's cooperation and understanding is gratefully appreciated.

Pool Update: Message from Board President

4/4/2016

Hi everyone, yesterday we passed our final soil inspection with flying colors. The compaction is so tight that it qualifies equally to a street permitting commercial vehicles.

Today the heaters for the spa and wader are being installed and tested. On Tuesday, 8 truckloads of pavers will be delivered and a crew of 12 installers and 6 laborors will begin final sloping and installation.

Once the pavers are in surrounding the spa, an attempt to diamond pad sand the plaster will be made and an acid wash to determine if the spa plaster can be held off for two years to coincide with replacement in the swimming pool. Tiles are being chemically cleaned and waxed to permit us to hold off on tile replacement until the plaster is re-done. This lessens any chance of a leak at the seam of the tile and plaster. This is the reason I am unable at this time to provide an estimated opening date until we know whether we have to re-do the spa now or in two years.

Once the borders of the pavers are installed, Adam's landscape will begin installation of a new "drip" irrigation system and restoration of the entire area landscape. The area behind the spa ( south side & east side ) was totally removed for re-sloping and drainage improvements. The fence side ( north ) saw a lot of plants die or damaged as a result of turning off the irrigation system while supply lines and drains were being replaced deep in the soil. While they were hand watered by hose, they are in need of replacement.

Once the pavers are complete, our fence will be re-built at the exit point north of the showers. This area will be modified. The push bar exit will be moved closer to the side walk and a locked utility gate will replace the location of the push bar gate. Additional fence will be built to better isolate our pool equipment. The utility gate will be clearly marked as "not an exit" and the push bar gate will be marked as Emergency Exit.

At this same time, the landscaping between the community center building and the pool will be removed and a large french drain installed along the border of the cement on the building side. During heavy rains, the rain gutters drain onto the cement and flow to the planter. The present drain for the planter is on the pool side, so all of the rain runoff saturates the dirt on the building side and floods the area. This is anticipated to be the final step in completing a comprehensive repair to the entire drainage system.

The great news is this; we have completed the repair portion of the project and are nearing the end stage of the restoration phase. I hope to provide a re-opening estimate in the next week or two as the final issues are determined.

Again, thank you everyone for your patience and understanding.
