Hi everyone, I wanted to provide you with an update on our current status with all of the repairs at the Community Center.
At this time the main emphasis is on proper drainage for all areas around the pool, re-grading and upgrading the drainage system, as well as removing the upper two feet of soil surrounding the entire pool for the Geological Engineer to test the soil stability below.
There are many reasons why the soil was unstable and thus a safety issue for anyone in the pool area. It appears that the developer had two different subcontractors install the drainage around the pool. Clearly the two did not work together as the drains were not properly tied in together and we have discovered several 6” drain pipes deep below the surface that led to nowhere and were not capped!
Some of the drains tied into the system near the boundary of the pool area and grass area are actually sloped upward vs downward, which prevented the water from moving through the drain.
As more and more of the soil is removed for inspection, more and more plumbing and drainage issues are found. The plan at this time is not to attempt repair of the drainage system with so many issues; but to replace it totally. Adding to the frustration, many of the plumbing/drain and electrical lines are not installed as indicated in the “as built” plans and as such, we have to hunt it down with sound, cameras and of course soil removal.
The goal after the two feet of top soil is removed is to test the soil below to see if it was properly installed and appropriate material. The majority of the areas where soil has already been removed is wet clay vs appropriate base and then lifts of soil.
The clay is super saturated and reeks of standing water. We will not know how much soil has to be removed until advised by the engineer and we also are working with varying weather conditions as a result of El Nino.
The goal is to fix everything to the highest standard, in the quickest time possible.
Based on all of the unknowns above, I cannot speculate on when the pool will re-open but please know, everyone on the HOA Board, the staff and Avalon are aware of the importance of this community asset and will continue to do our best to timely deliver the pool/community center everyone desires.

I am pleased to invite everyone to attend the open session meeting of the Wolf Creek Maintenance Corporation, Monday, January 11 at 6 PM at the Community Recreation Center meeting room.
The city of Temecula is sending a representative for the City Council Action Committee of the Regional Youth, Family and Health Task Force.
This is a great opportunity for Wolf Creek Residents to hear from the City as well as speak to the City.
